I love to people watch. Sitting quietly in a park, sipping tea in a coffee shop, or driving slowly through small town Montana, it’s the people I see. It’s the people I wonder about. It’s these ordinary people that I most enjoy painting.
My watercolor portraits reveal the stories of these ordinary people, all of whom have extraordinary lives. I find that our stories are not only imparted through words, but etched into our faces, told through our eyes, and explained by the way we hold ourselves. I love that each of us is unique in looks, personality, and life experience. I have been successful with a painting when not only is there a likeness, but also a glimpse into the life and spirit of my subject.
